Ragnarok is on mobile now.
Wow, we're really entering the age of the mobile platform as a legitimate console stage. I'm not sure how I feel about this, honestly. Am a little disturbed by it to some extent. It's taking all the terrible exploitative process of shitty gatcha mobile games and combining it with the addictiveness of MMOs. This is a terrible combination and honestly, I'm not convinced this is good for game development as a whole. The industry moving towards a service based economy rather than product based really makes me a little leery about where gaming is going to end up in a few more years. How the hell can studios afford to develop sprawling, in-depth RPG games with well written stories, when a hastily thrown together storyline will suffice for most?
...I say this as I continue to spend time in Black Desert Mobile...
