General life update
Sunday, March 12th, 2023 19:39Currently busy with packing stuff, filing taxes and re-entry forms, setting up new systems, battling to unlock my phone (fuck ATT, I had to get the FCC involved before successfully unlocking my phone), transferring to a new cell provider (for people who don't use their cellphone extensively, I highly recommend porting your number out to one of the many MVNO services that exist and get away from the major cell providers), and cleaning so, so many neglected stuff.
In short, I've been a bit distracted from writing. To say the least.
However, I've been taking a break between spouts of work to play Oceans, the digital app of the physical boardgame. I've reviewed it before, but it's been two years and the game has clearly matured since then. It's matured enough that the developers are even confident enough to charge you a fee for the paid version. It still remains under developed compared to Evolution, but Oceans now has multiple AI styles and difficulty along with extra deep cards locked behind a paywall. There still isn't any sort of campaign mode, so it's still mostly relying on it being a digital replacement for the board game to stay interesting. There's also been some serious bugs that causes the game to freeze up during certain set ups (I find going above 6 creatures has a tendency to cause the AI to freeze), so I can't really recommend out right buying the game. But, because of its less social darwinian theme (I mean, Evolution is literally modeled after Darwinian evolution) and there's plenty of fish in the sea, the game is, as someone described, "less mean" and probably also less chances of developing toxicity than Evolution.
Oh, and also, daylight savings suck and congress should get rid of it. I don't understand how this proposal passes in the Senate only to die in the House like clockwork.
