cashew: Kohane looking over her shoulder at a glowing piece of snow (xxxHolic // winter)

It's only late October, but already, my fingers are freezing and the room is cold enough that I'm getting spontaneous muscle cramps. I've got my trusty space heater blowing away to keep the area around my desk warm. But somehow, the leaves on the trees are still clinging to the trees at full foliage and it's pissing me off.

Allow me to explain: I have a south-facing window. This means that I have lots of sun in the winter and very little sun in the summer thanks to the higher latitudes and the quirk of physics and the earth's rotation. The point is, this is the ideal set up for housing. Unfortunately, right outside my south-facing window is a row of trees that perfectly blocks light from entering with their fat, full foliage. Now, this is great during the summer months as it keeps reflected light out of the room and keeps the temperature of my room to a tolerable 29 degrees Celsius (that's ~84F for you Americans). In the winter, the trees lose their leaves and I get a good 4~5 hour of direct sunlight warming my bed and keeping everything toasty.

But!

Right now, the trees for some unknown reason are keeping their leaves and still going strong (how are the leaves still green?!), thus covering what precious sunlight I can get and leaving my room a chilly 17 degrees Celsius (that's ~62F for those of you in the US). So now I'm freezing my little toes off in the morning and in the evening the room stays chilly. This is terrible.
