I mean, I've ranted about it before, but nothing quite kills your enthusiasm like reading 300+ rape apologist comments in a fucking row and all of them have 50+ upvotes. Anyone trying to voice the opposite is downvoted into oblivion. Never have I been in a fandom where rape is so acceptable.

I work in law in the UK and i find it almost laughable that this could be an actual leak from Ronaldo's representatives. What possible reason for this transcript could their be? It serves their client 0 benefit and I have 0 believe in the accuracy of the transcript. It would be akin to gross negligence on their part.

I'm not even looking that hard. These are literally the first comments popping up in a thread reminding everyone that Cristiano Ronaldo is a Rapist. The comments go on for much longer. It's absolutely revolting.

My point is this: the coverage was wide, the evidence damning, but because of a technicality, Cristiano Ronaldo got off and now the fucking fútbol community have decided they are free to worship this rapist because the courts haven't convicted him and therefore he must be innocent. Sports fans are the absolute worst people.

This is why we can't have nice things.

This is...actually common for the majority of the internet, not just one particular fandom. Unfortunately, women's rights are still a work in progress even today. I mean, in other places, other cases, there might not even be media coverage depending on how connected the perpetrator is and how much censorship the powers that be can apply.

Yeah, I know, I know, rape cases are severely under reported (only 35% ever reach a report and only 1-2% ever reach prosecution!), but once it has been exposed to this point, you'd think at the very least people would respond with disgust, not denial.
