In response to Daily's Beast's article on the silence of Hollywood "feminists" when it came to one of their own
I mean...yeah. This is why celebrity activism doesn't work. It's pretty well documented that on sociopolitical issues, celebrity endorsement doesn't really shift the needle that much (e.g. vaccines, voting trends, and really just google any academic text studying the effect of celebrity endorsement/activism and see how little effect it has).
If a celebrity wants to take up a cause, great for them. If they don't, well, they're celebrities, they're not activists. I don't understand America's weird obsession in trying to pressure celebrities into supporting a cause when that support amounts to pretty much nothing at the political level. Much better to spend that energy organizing actual activism and getting people to go out there and vote.
Society is backsliding. Maybe get off the internet and get into the streets if you care so much.

People who are prone to buying things are gonna buy and people who aren't won't buy it even if the celebrity endorses it. With selling stuff, it's more about the numbers and less about changing people's minds.
