Online Left needs to hear Vaush out
Saturday, December 7th, 2024 11:30Vaush has his flaws, but overall, I rate him a net positive for the leftist movement. Yes, he says things wrong sometimes (often), and his views aren't very nuanced, but since he's trying to reach the dude-bro demographic, I don't think a very nuanced, carefully worded discussion of gender issues is going to convince said dude-bros away from the alt-right pipeline. (That's why we have the likes of Contrapoints, Philosophy Tube, Lindsay Ellis, et al. for the more brainy stuff.)
I would say this aptly summarized the problem with the Democratic Party.
(Aside: I'm just saying if a party's philosophy is to genuinely "want you dead", any action less than organizing a full out militarized offense against said party and recognition that there is no longer room for pluralistic mutual existence is bound to end up with you...well, dead. If not, then the constant refrain that the other side wants death camps is going sound like hyperbole. Which one is it? If you want to be taken seriously, then act seriously. Nazis weren't defeated by marching in the streets...and internet arguments for a pluralistic co-existence with fascists is — pardon my politically incorrect take here — crazy talk. If you consider Republicans fascists, then you need to be able to follow it up with "Therefore it is not possible to co-exist with them in the same nation." Because it is not possible to co-exist with a faction that wants you dead.)
And no, I'm not advocating for political violence. I'm just pointing out a political trend. I'm personally not a politically active enough person to organize. Plus, internet diatribes don't do anything politically anyway.
