DnD taking over nerd-space

Second DnD comic by XKCD this year.

DnD is really taking over the nerd spaces. I get that COVID+Stranger Things was a combo that shot DnD into public consciousness, but it's been like 2 years since the lock downs have been lifted. And Wizards of the Coast haven't really been hitting their products out of the park. Why hasn't nerdom moved on?
