cashew | 《少年歌行》 - episodes 6 to 14

Ugh, cramps. Spent most of the day curled up with a hot water bottle, pain killers, and watched some more 《少年歌行》, so thoughts:

Ah yes, mandatory pairing up all the heroes per Wuxia tradition. At least none of the girls are driving me up a wall yet, so yay.
One brother has shown up. Complicated imperial sibling relations is complicated. LOL.
Dear god everyone is falling over themselves to help 萧瑟. At least he's demonstrating he's worth the effort.
萧瑟 trying to matchmake his buddies is cute. As are the buddies trying to return the favor. Everyone is stuck at 5th grade level romantic gestures.
There's some cringe lines. Sometimes I'm not convinced the writing here is any better than HSR. Ugh.
I'm also reminded of why so much of Wuxia put me off. Super saiyan superpowers and martial arts do not mix.
Still very shounen. The stupid characters are testing my patience.
OK, the name thing is bugging me. Where's the 字? These are rich and educated people, they really should have courtesy names.
I hate these 架空 set ups. The political system is basically never explained and makes no sense to give the author an excuse to not research historical governance. Imperial siblings fighting over inheritance without a concrete government system is really obnoxious. Like at the very least establish what type of system the eunuchs are in if you're going to make them a major part of the political conflict FFS! Every dynasty set up their eunuchs differently, so you can't just throw in power struggles involving eunuchs and expect the audience to automatically know how powerful they are politically in a completely made up world!
The show severely over estimates how big 3-year-olds are.
Ages are all over the place. Is kind of annoying. Also no one is playing age appropriate characters. Once I realized the main cast are basically 16-19 age range, my patience wore down much more quickly.
Currently not sure how much I want to stick it out with this show. Everything is very clichéd, but 萧瑟 is intriguing. Getting the feeling I'll be super disappointed with how it ends...
