So, decided to check out the webnovel for 《成化十四年》, only a few pages in and its pacing is already better than the TV show. I'm still going to watch the show, because why not, but this time at least I have higher hopes the novel won't be disappointing.

Am learning all sorts of new phrases!

Was this story fictionalized but based on real life people/events like 包拯, or purely fictional?

The MC and...uh, how to translate 男二 (main supporting character?) are made up. The main antagonist is historical. The major political background events are historical. So in terms of the background history, more historical than 包公转. In terms of plot just as fictional.
