The last thing a mystery story should be doing is making me hate the political ideology of the main detective. Blaming the woman for resorting to murdering her husband so she can get out of an abusive relationship because she has no other options...wow. WOW.

This novel was written by a woman!

I mean, historically speaking, Ming Dynasty was the era that mass popularized footbinding and gave rise to the whole 贞节牌坊 thing. So unless the character is a transmigrator from the modern era, having a misogynist attitude is understandable...

Historically speaking, people more progressive than their surrounding customs is also a thing that exists. If the author is ignoring the historical accuracy to write a BL mystery, then they can definitely make the main detective progressive enough to think "hm, maybe watching a woman suicide herself in front of me should make me question if I'm actually enforcing justice."

I'm tired of stories only sticking to so called "historically accurate" things when it's conservative crap and ignoring the progressive minority that existed in every era of human history.
