OMFG, modern Chinese period dramas are so pretty!!

OK, so the thing is, there's a lot of period dramas in recent times, and while a lot of them have beautiful cinematography, the scripts are...bad. So bad. Absolute shit. Like Disney's Mulan 2020 bad.

Until...《清平乐》. This show is so, so good. And so, so historically accurate. It's such an accurate reflection of the society and culture of the Song dynasty. Also, I truly appreciate hearing some Southern accents instead of the constant default Northern accent that permeates these period dramas. Especially for the Song dynasty, when the majority of the northern territories were under foreign/Mongolian rule.

OK, it's accurate with exception to the plot, which is...um, a bit...historical fiction-esque? Point is, it's about as historically accurate as your typical "Romance of ..." types of stories. (Big strokes are there, the actual characterizations...not so much.)
